Witches Abroad

Witches Abroad is a Discworld novel by Terry Pratchett, originally published in 1991. It is the third witches story.

It features the three witches introduced in Wyrd Sisters (Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, and Magrat Garlick) visit Genua, on the other side of the continent, where they confront Granny's sister, Lily Weatherwax, who is manipulating people using the power of stories.

The plot contains references to many fairy tales and fantasy novels, including Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and The Frog Prince. During the story the three witches, travelling in the deepest caves under the mountains, make a short encounter with some odd creature which claims to have anniversary (see Gollum), and later on Nanny Ogg has a house fall on her (a reference to the Wizard of Oz).

There are also several references to Voodoo : there is a witch called Erzulie Gogol (Erzulie is the name of a voodoo goddess), and a zombie called Baron Samedi.
