Ruby Knight

The Ruby Knight is the sequel to The Diamond Throne. Sir Sparhawk and his companions seek the Bhelliom, an antidote to a rare poison administered to Elenia's queen. The characters travel to the house of Count Ghasek whose sister is ill, as her soul was stolen by Azash, the elder god of styricsm, who was confined in a clay idol. Sephrenia and the others manage to cure Lady Belina, though she has been rendered hopelessly mad by destroying the idol which was controlling her power. The Count then tells them about the giant's mound where King Sorak was buried. While still searching for the only cure to heal Ehlana, the Bhelliom, they encounter a serf who tells them about the great battle between the Deirans and the Thalesians in which the Earl of Heid dropped King Sorak's crown into the dark murky waters of Lake Randera. Along the way, they make friends with the Domi, and Kring, who happen to be hunting down Zemochs' ears for profit. The book ends with Sparhawk and Kurik killing Ghwerig by him rolling off into the chasm along with Bhelliom. Thus, Flute, the girl, jumped off, revealing her true identity as Apharael, Child-Goddess of Styricsm and depositing Bhelliom into Sparhawk's hands.
