Rose Impey is an award-winning, best-selling author of childrens books. She was born and raised in England but currently lives in Queensland, Australia. Impey is celebrated for her writing about strong characters, with storylines touching on the importance of environmentalism and believing in oneself.

Impey was a reader from a young age, immersing herself in books and reading them to her brother. From this, she developed a passion for creating her own stories. After university, Impey started working as a teaching assistant and aspiring writer.

When she wasnt writing stories, she was encouraging her students and making them laugh. Eventually, Impey decided to make the transition from teaching to pursuing writing as a full-time career. Her first book, The Pool Room, won a Practical Pre-School Award in 1998. She later went on to publish several more books for children, including the bestselling series My Dads a Birdman.

The series compares the struggles of a single dad raising his daughter with the teachings of a wise birdman. Its been a well-received series, winning the Red House Childrens Book Award in 2004 and the Sheffield Childrens Book Award, also in 2004. Impey is also known for creating her Muddlehead book series, which focuses on the adventures of Muddlehead and his friends.

The series follows Muddlehead as he embarks on different journeys and engages with various characters in the magical world. Each book has its own theme dedicated to the importance of taking care of the environment. In 2012, Impeys book, The Unlikely Adventures of Minton and Gladstone won the Reading Associations Childrens Book Award.

The book follows two cats on an adventure, learning about friendship, family, responsibility and the importance of standing up for themselves.
