Isaac Adamson, born in Fort Collins, Colorado in 1971, is the American author of a series of mystery novels set in Japan and featuring journalist and amateur detective Billy Chaka. Adamson currently lives in Chicago, Illinois. He is married to Chee-Soo Kim.

After graduating from Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Adamson attended UCLA briefly before graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Film Studies. 

All four of his Billy Chaka novels were published by HarperCollins. None of them are in print anymore.

Adamson's first novel, Tokyo Suckerpunch, is being made into a film by Sony Pictures Entertainment. The film, scheduled to be released in 2010, will star Tobey Maguire in the role of Billy Chaka. 

Isaac Adamson is an American playwright, dramatist, novelist, and screenwriter. His works are known for their darkly comic nature, often featuring elements of fantasy and science fiction. He is best known for writing the screenplay for the 2001 black comedy film, Bad Santa.

After graduating from high school,he studied playwriting and acting at Boston University's School of Theatre Arts and the British American Drama Academy. He later received an MFA in Dramatic Writing from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
Adamson's first professional writing job was writing jokes for an evening news satire show called Public Access in 1992. The same year, he wrote and directed a short film entitled Who Said What, which won honors at several film festivals. Adamson began writing for television in 1996. His credits include writing for the popular sitcom Mad About You, as well as writing and producing the short-lived ABC sitcom Mother Knows Best.

In 2001, Adamson wrote the screenplay for the black comedy film Bad Santa. The film was a commercial and critical success, receiving Academy Award nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor (Billy Bob Thornton). It was followed by a sequel, Bad Santa 2, in 2016.
Adamson has also written the screenplay for several independent films, including Get Over It (2001), Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006), and Robinson Crusoe (2016). He has also written for television, including the Showtime miniseries The L Word and the popular CBS show Fear Itself and FOX's Back to You. Adamson's novel, Billy Chaka, was published in 2006.

In addition to scriptwriting, Adamson has worked in theater as a playwright. He is the author of the play Twelve Paces to Half Mile, which had its world premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2004. Adamson has also served as a playwright for the Kennedy Center's American College Theater Festival, for which his play The Eighteenth Planet received a Kennedy Center Honorable Mention in 1999.
Adamson has returned to television writing with his work on the first season of the HBO series Barry. The show has received widespread critical acclaim, with Adamson winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series in 2018. Adamson currently lives in Los Angeles, California, where he continues to work in television and film.
